Key Responsibilities:
- Manage end-to-end corporate income tax compliance, including computation and filing of annual income tax returns, advance tax estimates and quarterly payments, minimum tax and super tax computations, and deferred tax workings for statutory financial statements.
- Oversee monthly sales tax return filings under the Sales Tax Act, input/output tax reconciliations, and sales tax on services compliance across all relevant revenue authorities together with Federal Excise Duty matters applicable to cement and clinker production.
- Ensure accurate deduction, deposit, and e-filing of withholding tax statements across all categories – salary, supplies, services, contracts, dividends, and imports and their reconciliation with annual tax returns.
- Coordinate on customs duty, additional customs duty, and regulatory duty matters relating to the import of plant, machinery, coal, and raw materials, including applicable duty exemptions/concessions for the manufacturing sector.
- Act as the primary point of contact for the FBR, SRB, and other tax authorities; manage tax audits, notices, and assessments; and oversee tax litigation before the Commissioner (Appeals) and Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue, coordinating with external legal counsel on High Court/Supreme Court matters.
- Act as the focal point for tax planning and advisory matters, coordinating with the internal and external tax advisors on the tax implications of routine and strategic transactions, and supporting the identification and implementation of legitimate tax optimization and incentive opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with Workers’ Welfare Fund (WWF), Workers’ Profit Participation Fund (WPPF), Stamp Duty, Property Tax, and other applicable statutory/regulatory levies.
- Prepare tax disclosures for annual and quarterly financial statements in coordination and maintain an up-to-date tax risk register to ensure timely closure of open matters.
- Lead and mentor the taxation team, strengthen tax-related SOPs and internal controls, and drive process improvements and automation in tax compliance and reporting.
Qualification:
- Professional Accountant
Experience & Skills:
- 8 plus years of relevant experience, with strong exposure to direct and indirect taxation.
- Prior experience in a dedicated Tax/Indirect Tax function, preferably in the industry or Big 4 tax advisory.
- Experience in the cement or manufacturing industry will be preferred.
- Article ship experience with a Big 4 firm will be preferred.
- Strong experience in dealing with FBR, provincial revenue authorities, and tax litigation.
- Working knowledge of ERP systems.
